Angie Shamo

Angie Shamo is the lead teacher in the River Birch morning preprimary program and the Canoe Birch 2-day afternoon Cultural Program. Angie grew up on a farm near Lake Michigan where she spent most days playing outside, riding horses, and imagining with her brother. In 1998, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in Early Childhood Education. After living and studying in Australia, teaching at the local Head Start and teaching preschool in Berkley CA., Angie found her home within the MSGL Community in 2002. This will be Angie’s 15th year teaching at our school. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to earn her Montessori Teacher Certificate in 2005. Likewise, she received her Yoga Teaching Certificate in 2011 and currently has the pleasure of teaching Yoga at a local studio. Angie’s oldest son is a MSGL Kindergarten graduate and will be an 8th grader at West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School. Her youngest son is also a Montessori 3rd student graduate and is currently a 1st grader at Cumberland Elementary. Angie, her husband, and their sons, make their home in West Lafayette where they share a love of music, an affinity for Lake Michigan and spend most days playing outside.
