I was first introduced to the Montessori model during my undergraduate degree at Shippensburg University. The Elementary Education program was focused on the Montessori philosophy. When my husband and I moved to West Lafayette last summer, we were thrilled to find a Montessori school with an elementary program. We enrolled our son, Everest, into the Globe Willow class and have been very pleased. I have had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer once a week doing the sound table, and as a room parent. I love my time in the classroom. As a former teacher, I appreciate all the hard work that goes into making the classroom successful.
I look forward to serving on the board and supporting the School's endeavors. My husband and I were both teachers until we had children. Now, I stay at home (and LOVE it), and Nathan finished his graduate degree and is a professor at Purdue. Education is a high value in our family and we feel Montessori is the best place for our children. My experience as a teacher and a parent will provide a comprehensive view of many issues.
