Kindergarten

In the Preprimary program, it is expected that children remain at MSGL through their kindergarten year. The curriculum in a Preprimary class, when taught by a Montessori credentialed teacher, is individualized for each child and would include curriculum materials and instruction considered kindergarten level. Thus, a child who meets the entrance age for MSGL and has attended the Preprimary Program at least one year prior to the "kindergarten year," will be considered "in kindergarten" and will receive a Kindergarten Progress Report. New (to MSGL) 5-year-old students should be five prior to September 1 to be considered in their kindergarten year.

Extended Day, All Day
This program is for children who are in kindergarten and ready for a full-day program. Children must be 5 by September 1. The program includes a Morning Preprimary class and an afternoon session with other 5-year-olds. The full-day program is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This program focuses on refining skills in math, language, and writing. In addition, enrichment activities are offered in history, geography, biology, the arts, and physical skill development. The program helps the child make the transition from learning in the concrete to learning in the abstract. Activities are also included which help the Montessori student transition to a traditional first grade.

A ratio of 10 students to one teacher is maintained with a maximum of 20 in the class.
